Music Video Feedback

We screened our nearly finished music videos and received feedback sheets on the developments we had made.  Here is some of what I received:

These feedback sheets show I have made significant improvements to my music video, particularly with adding and developing my narrative and including elements of Goodwin's theory.  For example, the link between visuals and lyrics, as well as visuals and music.  I think I need to make minor changes such as including transitions between shots to make it more visually interesting.  I also hope to adapt the ending so it builds more as the song does, possibly including more cuts, then I think it will be complete.

Feedback from 1st Draft

There are a lot of blank spaces within my music video which I intend to fill with narrative, yet have had trouble organising to film this.  However, I screened what I had so far and this is the feedback I received:

From this feedback, I can focus on filling the blank spaces, particularly by including more narrative so it is clearer.  However, I am glad they liked the costume and lighting of my performance footage.

Digipak Feedback #3

We presented our updated versions to the class and received further feedback from our teacher and classmates.  They all liked the developments I have made and think it conveys my artist's style and genre well.  However, they had minor changes to suggest for me to improve it further.  This included lightening the back cover photograph as it was slightly darker than the others.  They also found the artist's name difficult to read on the front cover, yet liked the font I chose.  I intend to fix this by adding an outline and drop shadow to the text to make it more legible.  Finally, I also need to add my record company logo onto my digipak and poster, as well as making my album image slightly smaller on my poster, and then I will have completed my two pieces.

Digipak Feedback #2

We showed our updated digipaks to the class with the changes we had made since our last feedback session.  Due to including more edited studio photos of my artist and more information on the digipak, I received much more positive feedback.  I think my digipak fits my genre better than before, and feel I only need to make final minor changes to it.  Here are some of the sheets I was given:

Digipak First Draft Feedback

We presented our digipak drafts in class to receive feedback and make changes to improve them.  Unfortunately, mine had not saved properly and my draft only consisted of 5 panels:

This is some of the feedback I received:

I know I need to finish off the remaining panels.  I also will most likely change the photographs of me outside with the graffiti to more images taken within the drama studio, as people preferred the studio photos and thought it conveyed my genre better.

Pitch Feedback and Changes

After pitching to the class, I received feedback on what was positive about my ideas and what could be developed further.

From my feedback, I know that they liked my initial ideas for my artist, such as their costume and make-up style.  They also thought the concept for my narrative was interesting, and thought my Goodwin elements worked well.

However, I need to complete my storyboards and animatic as I have finally settled on a music video idea.
